AFI photo by Adam DeGrosss
Beginning October 10, The Abstracted Gallery of NE Minneapolis will present a two night event featuring never before seen work from photographer Adam DeGross
This event marks the return of the MN subculture documentarian with his second ever gallery showing. DeGross is a 27-year-old self-taught photographer who has documented almost every MN punk show in the past ten years, in addition to chronicling a number of other subversive genres. Aside from the performances themselves, he captures the lives of the people in these communities. The images transport you to the underground, allowing a shared experience with the subjects of the photos themselves. His style is raw, uncompromising, intense and grim, yet beautiful just the same.
A body of DeGross’s work is currently housed in the historical Andersen Archives at the University of MN. He was recently voted “Best Music Photographer In MN” by the readers of City Pages Minneapolis, and has enjoyed a number of notable national and international write-ups.
Doors open at 5pm both days. This will be a FREE, ALL AGES event. One-of-a-kind prints will be available for purchase, as will a limited number of Degross’s self-published photo book Pay Attention. Free beer with ID.
Bands will perform each night(more details coming soon), and Patrick Costello of the legendary MN punk band Dillinger Four will be spinning records.
